The construction of a seven-story car park at Blackpool Central was well underway when we received an inquiry for cast-iron soil stacks. A total of approximately 1400 metres of pipes and 4000 couplings were needed on-site within a short timeframe.
Waterworks Plumbing Supplies Ltd initially requested a quote for our BS EN 877 Halifax Soil system, a common choice for multi-storey and underground carparks. However, an important consideration for this project was the coastal location of Blackpool, where the presence of saltwater in the atmosphere posed a threat to painted surfaces.
After extensive discussions among Waterworks, the main contractors, and ourselves, it was unanimously agreed that additional protective measures were vital for this project. Fortunately, we already offered a specialised "Coastal" finish for some of our systems. We were able to provide expert advice and implement the necessary steps to safeguard against saltwater damage.
In the end, we successfully delivered the required goods on time, complete, and with a high-quality Coastal paint finish.
