396 Columns, One Pancras Square, King’s Cross, London

The building, designed by the award-winning David Chipperfield Architects, is one of six buildings around Pancras Square, which sits between St Pancras International and King’s Cross Station.

Elizabeth Tower and the Houses of Parliament

In the last few years, we have been involved in restoration work on the Elizabeth Tower and the Palace of Westminster, designed by Charles Barry, who, coincidentally, also designed Halifax’s town hall.

Manchester
Bee Planters

Manchester Council required 50 solid, cast iron planters in three sizes: 800 x 800mm, 1,000 x 1,000mm and 1,200 x 1,000mm. They were destined for different locations in the city centre and needed to be portable by forklift so that they could be moved around for different events.

QA Hospital, Portsmouth – Halifax Soil EN 877

The Queen Alexandra Hospital is a large NHS hospital in Portsmouth, Hampshire. The requirement was for a cast iron above-ground BS EN 877 drainage system with excellent fire ratings and acoustic properties to carry out the refurbishment of their large car park.

Manchester Town Hall – Bespoke Premier Rainwater

This Grade l listed building was completed in 1877, many of the original Cast Iron drainage components are still present on the building today. In 2022, the building is to undergo a full refurbishment process; this includes replacing a number of existing ornate rainwater pipes and fittings.

Sally Matthews
– Pit Ponies

We were lucky enough to be commissioned to cast 6 Pit Ponies, each around 6 feet from head to tail & weighing 2 tonnes, by another very talented artist & sculptor, Sally Matthews, as a tribute to the pit ponies in the South Wales coal mining industry.

Romney Court –
TX Traditional Express

Romney Court is a large apartment complex in Shepherd's Bush, London, containing more than 75 residential apartments. The requirement was for a cast iron soil system as part of a large refurbishment project.

Louise Plant
– P’s in a Pod

These sculptures began life as plaster models in artist Louise Plant's studio in Devon. From her drawings exploring ideas about individuality and difference, Plant created dozens of small models.

Sir Antony Gormley
– The Angel

We made a couple of these for Sir Antony Gormley as a precursor to the Angel being erected in Gateshead in 1998. The body of this sculpture stood at 6’4, modelled on Sir Antony’s own body. The wingspan was just over 17 feet.

Himley Hall, Dudley
– Bespoke Rainwater Castings

This 18th-century home was once the family home of the Earls of Dudley, and is now host to weddings, fairs, festivals and more. The lead rainwater pipes and hoppers were weathered beyond repair and required replacing, and cast iron was the material of choice.

Milburngate is a 450,000 sq ft development on the banks of the River Wear in the heart of Durham. With office, retail, leisure and residential space to let.

Alexandra Park,
Manchester

Hargreaves Foundry were involved in Manchester Council's project to reproduce 18 impressive cast iron urns and help restore an original drinking fountain. This was just part of a £5.5 million restoration of the Alexandra Park in south Manchester.

Multi Storey – Coastal
Finish Socketless Soil

The construction of a seven-story car park at Blackpool Central was well underway when we received an inquiry for cast-iron soil stacks. A total of approximately 1400 metres of pipes and 4000 couplings were needed on-site within a short timeframe.

We were approached by renowned sculptor Ron Mueck to manufacture this large Skull in cast iron from a fibreglass pattern.

These castings were millions of years in the making… 7 Cast iron fossil medallions, manufactured on behalf of artist & sculptor Sebastien Boyesen, depicting Trilobites, Ammonites & Calamites amongst others.
